Water Damage Cleanup FAQs

Water damage cleanup covers any unwanted water in a building, including plumbing leaks. Flood cleanup refers to water entering from outside or from the sewer. Both use the same IICRC S500 categories and classes.

IICRC S500 defines four classes by evaporation load. Class 1 is the least wet area. Class 4 involves deeply saturated, low-evaporation materials such as hardwood, plaster and concrete.
